ERG leader election FAQ

How do you run an ERG leader election?

Simple! Start by deciding which seats are open (for example, chair, co-chair, or events lead), then open applications, and then share one link with members. Next, you'll want to review every applicant against the same questions, shortlist, meet your top candidates one-on-one, then announce your new leaders.

Election Builder handles all of this for you.

What questions should you ask on an ERG leader application?

Ask why they want to lead the group, what one thing they would change for members next year, what they would bring to the seat, how they have been involved so far, and whether they can commit the time the role needs. Election Builder includes a bank of questions like these that you can edit for each ERG.

How do you announce new ERG leaders?

Congratulate the people you selected first, thank everyone else personally, then announce the new team to all members. Election Builder writes all three messages for you, and you send them from your own email, Slack or Teams so they come from you.

Is it really free?

Yes. Run as many ERGs and selection rounds as you need.

Do applicants need an account?

No. They open your link, fill out the form and submit.

Who can see the applications?

Only you, the program manager who created the round.

Does it send emails for me?

No. You get the messages written and filled in, and you send them from your own tools so they come from you.
